Neuralink is seeking an EMC Compliance Engineer to own electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) strategy, testing, and regulatory compliance across implantable brain-computer interface devices, surgical robotics, external wireless charging systems, and manufacturing operations.
You will work directly with hardware, firmware, mechanical, manufacturing, quality, and regulatory teams to identify EMC risks early in the design cycle and drive robust design mitigations including grounding, shielding, filtering, isolation, and PCB layout optimization. You'll own EMC and RF impact assessments for design changes within the medical device design control process, evaluating effects on emissions, immunity, wireless performance, and coexistence.
Key responsibilities include developing and expanding internal EMC test capabilities to enable rapid design iteration; owning end-to-end EMC compliance strategy and executing pre-compliance and formal testing (conducted/radiated emissions, immunity, ESD, EFT, surge, voltage dips/interruptions, wireless coexistence) in accordance with IEC 60601-1-2, FCC Part 18, and IEC 61000-series standards; and debugging EMC failures using oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, near-field probes, current probes, LISNs, VNAs, ESD guns, and custom fixtures.
You will develop and maintain EMC test protocols, reports, setup diagrams, deviations, engineering rationales, and requirement traceability for complex systems. You'll partner with external NRTL and EMC test laboratories (UL, TÜV, Intertek) for formal testing and certification, and own interactions with regulatory bodies (FDA, notified bodies) regarding EMC data and regulatory submissions. Additionally, you'll own ESD control strategy for manufacturing lines and build a culture of EMC-by-design through education, design guidelines, and integration of EMC considerations throughout the product development lifecycle.
