REGENT is developing Seagliders—wing-in-ground-effect craft that revolutionize regional coastal transportation. These vehicles travel just above water at 180 mph with 180-mile range on current battery technology, combining airplane speed with boat-like operating costs. The company is scaling from prototype to full production and seeking an Embedded Systems Software Engineer to contribute across the full stack.
In this role, you will develop and maintain real-time embedded software for the Seaglider product family, working with microcontroller code and Linux-based applications. You'll support the development of simulation and hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) testing environments for controls software verification, coordinating across multiple disciplinary teams. You'll manage the electronics ecosystem—sensors, servos, single-board computers, harnesses, and breakout boards—ensuring reliability and testability.
You'll improve developer tools and build processes by automating build systems, streamlining deployment pipelines, and creating tooling to facilitate maintenance and certification. A significant part of the role involves field testing: you'll be part of the sea trials team, monitoring operations, running diagnostics, troubleshooting in real-world environments, and demonstrating Seaglider capabilities.
Required experience includes writing C++ for embedded systems (Linux, RTOS, or bare metal), hands-on work with microcontrollers and embedded interfaces (Serial, SPI, CAN, PWM, ADCs, DIO), ability to read and contribute to wiring diagrams and electrical schematics, and scripting proficiency in Python, MATLAB, or similar languages.
Bonus qualifications include LabVIEW or Simulink experience for DAQ and HIL systems, familiarity with actuation systems like servo motors, field-testing and electronics troubleshooting experience, safety-critical application development, and knowledge of aerospace or automotive standards (DO-178C, ISO 26262).
