Mainspring Energy is seeking an Embedded Software Manager to lead the embedded software engineering team responsible for the company's fuel-flexible, low-emissions local power generation systems. The role combines technical leadership with people management, overseeing the development of firmware and embedded systems that power Mainspring's Linear Generators—devices deployed at scale across Fortune 500 companies, data centers, and utilities. As manager, you will be responsible for: - Building and scaling a high-performing embedded software engineering team - Setting technical direction and architecture for firmware development - Managing hiring, mentoring, and professional development of direct reports - Collaborating with hardware, mechanical, and systems engineering teams to deliver integrated solutions - Driving quality, reliability, and performance of embedded systems in production environments - Working with product and operations teams to prioritize features and address field issues - Establishing engineering best practices, code standards, and development processes You will work on mission-critical systems that require high reliability, real-time performance, and robust safety mechanisms. The embedded software stack likely includes real-time operating systems, control algorithms, communication protocols, and diagnostics for distributed power generation hardware. Mainspring Energy has achieved significant commercial traction with hundreds of megawatts in advanced development and field operations, backed by partnerships with major energy companies including AEP, NextEra Energy Resources, and Schneider Electric. The company is well-funded and growing rapidly in the clean energy sector. Ideal candidates bring 5+ years of embedded software experience, proven track record managing engineering teams, and deep expertise in firmware development for hardware-intensive products. Experience with power systems, distributed generation, or industrial IoT is a plus.
