Salary: USD 100,000 - 135,000 / annual
Voyager Technologies is seeking an Embedded Software Engineer to develop, debug, and test embedded software for space, defense, and national security applications. You will work on flight-quality software for bare-metal, real-time OS, and embedded Linux-based avionics systems, collaborating closely with system engineers and electrical hardware engineers.
Key responsibilities include full life-cycle development and hands-on testing of embedded software systems across multiple platforms; owning software codebases while collaborating on shared projects; performing design trade-studies and selecting architectures for space avionics; coordinating with project managers to deliver software on schedule and budget; and developing tools and documentation for system usage and testing.
Required qualifications: B.S. in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related field; minimum 4 years of embedded software development experience (2 years with M.S.); proficiency in C, C++, and Python or similar scripting languages; experience with Windows and Linux development environments; understanding of full software development life cycle for complex systems; and familiarity with configuration management tools like Git.
Desired qualifications include embedded Linux driver and application development (especially Yocto), bash/shell scripting, microcontroller and chipset experience, FPGA programming in VHDL, real-time deterministic systems, robotic/motor control systems, PCB design tools (Altium), electrical troubleshooting equipment, FDIR and fault-tolerant design knowledge, space application experience, spacecraft systems instrumentation, communication protocols (CAN bus, RS-232/422, TCP/IP, spacecraft protocols), Git/CI/CD/Docker, agile development, and software integration/unit testing experience.
