Salary: USD 131,000 - 184,000 / annual
Varda Space Industries is building commercial space infrastructure, including in-orbit pharmaceutical processing systems, reentry capsules, and satellite buses. The Flight Software team is responsible for developing reliable software that determines how spacecraft, satellite buses, and reentry capsules operate throughout their entire missions.
In this role, you will develop embedded flight software for spacecraft and satellite systems, writing quality structured bare metal, RTOS, or Linux-based software in C++. You will own all aspects of software development from design through testing and integration, including requirements capture, initial design trades, and system verification and validation (V&V). You'll scope projects, solve open-ended problems, and work collaboratively with a team of experienced aerospace engineers and software developers.
The role requires a Bachelor's degree in computer science, math, physics, engineering, or equivalent technical experience in safety-critical software, plus 3+ years developing spacecraft or similar safety-critical systems. Strong C++ expertise is essential. Preferred qualifications include end-to-end spacecraft development experience, real-time embedded systems expertise, aerospace safety-critical software background, familiarity with CCSDS telemetry/telecommand systems, F' or cFS frameworks, Python or Rust, analog/digital electronics knowledge, and experience with SPI, I2C, CAN, or EtherCAT protocols.
