Infleqtion is a global quantum technology company building quantum computers, sensors, and networks to solve complex problems. The company is expanding its UK engineering team and seeking an Embedded DevOps Engineer to play a pivotal role in development velocity and reliability for quantum research, sensor development, and productionization of cutting-edge systems.
The role combines development and maintenance of robust testing and deployment processes, including hardware-in-the-loop testing and build pipelines for integrated software, firmware, and gateware. You will be instrumental in defining version control, auditing, and engineering procedures for delivering production software to deployed systems. Additionally, the role involves maintenance of physical on-site hardware, network management, and server administration supporting in-house research labs.
Key responsibilities include managing containers and orchestrating CI/CD pipelines for efficient software deployment and traceable updates; supporting hardware and software teams by managing configurations of networked systems for development, testing, and commissioning; designing and maintaining Infrastructure as Code solutions and implementing CI/CD pipelines; defining and owning software security procedures for secure code development and deployment; managing lab system uptime and coordinating response to system issues; and collaborating with software developers and hardware engineers to document processes and system configurations.
Required qualifications include demonstrable embedded DevOps experience developing and maintaining CI/CD, build, test, and release processes for systems combining software with embedded hardware, firmware, or FPGA gateware; strong Linux systems administration skills including networking, permissions, service management, and troubleshooting; proficiency in automation and scripting using Python, Bash, or similar languages; practical experience with Git-based workflows, automated testing, artifact repositories, and versioned releases; and hands-on experience with container technologies and infrastructure tools such as Docker, Podman, Ansible, Terraform, or Nix.
Desirable experience includes designing or operating hardware-in-the-loop test environments; familiarity with embedded Linux, cross-compilation toolchains, RTOS environments, or FPGA workflows; experience with monitoring platforms like OpenTelemetry, Prometheus, Grafana, or Loki; knowledge of secure software supply-chain practices; laboratory or industrial network administration; and experience with production or safety-critical system processes. A minimum of 4 years' DevOps experience is required.
This is a full-time position split between the Kidlington, Oxford office and the National Quantum Computing Centre at Harwell, with work-from-home permitted up to 2 days per week based on business needs and manager approval.
