Anduril Industries, a defense technology company, is seeking an Electrical Test Engineer to join the Manufacturing team's Electromagnetic Warfare division in Irvine, California. The EW Manufacturing Team is responsible for rapidly iterating and building cutting-edge defense hardware, and this role focuses on ensuring products meet stringent testing standards while maintaining production throughput.
In this position, you will own test activities in production, maintaining test flow and providing hands-on troubleshooting to resolve complex electrical issues. You'll maintain test capabilities across the manufacturing value stream, from system-level checkouts and acceptance testing to component-level in-process validation. Key responsibilities include improving and sustaining existing test systems to enhance automation, consistency, cycle time, and test coverage through Design for Manufacturability (DfM) principles.
You will generate clear test work instructions for technician teams in the Manufacturing Execution System (MES), train technicians on equipment use, and develop libraries of common failure modes with troubleshooting guides for rapid issue resolution. The role requires determining root causes of product failures and recommending corrective actions, collaborating with Design, Quality, and Manufacturing Engineering teams on customer returns and failure analysis.
Additionally, you'll contribute feedback to early-stage test design for new product introduction (NPI), analyze test data to identify defects and improvement areas, and optimize test strategies for efficiency without compromising quality. You'll maintain and calibrate test equipment, support continuous improvement initiatives, and execute testing as required.
Required qualifications include a Bachelor's degree in Electrical/Electronics, Computer, Mechanical Engineering, or related field, plus 5+ years of relevant industry experience emphasizing manufacturing test and product sustainment. You must be familiar with Linux, Ubuntu, LabVIEW, and NixOS, with hands-on experience testing PCBA/electronic assemblies and knowledge of PCBA testing standards. Strong proficiency with electronics test equipment (power supplies, electronic loads, oscilloscopes, function generators, spectrum analyzers, data acquisition systems) is essential. You should have excellent root cause analysis skills, strong communication abilities, and familiarity with PLM systems, MES, and Test Execution Systems. Experience integrating electrical, mechanical, and software/firmware systems is valued. Candidates must be eligible to obtain and maintain an active U.S. Secret security clearance.
