Voyager Technologies is seeking an Electrical Hardware Engineer – Avionics to join the Voyager Lunar Systems team in Pittsburgh, PA. This hybrid role reports to the Electronic Systems Manager and focuses on the design, manufacturing, and testing of electrical hardware and avionics components for spacecraft systems.
Key responsibilities include:
- Design PCBs for spacecraft primary and secondary avionics systems using tools like Altium, Eagle, or OrCAD
- Conduct trade studies on electronic components to select optimal solutions for engineering and flight units
- Develop comprehensive test procedures for component, board-level, and system-level integrated testing
- Execute testing of fabricated PCBs and integrated avionics systems
- Participate in environmental and qualification testing of engineering and flight design units
- Program embedded systems, FPGAs, microcontrollers, and related processors
- Implement full systems engineering development cycles with regular progress reporting
- Support hardware-in-the-loop testing with engineering and flight systems
- Write and present technical reports
Minimum qualifications include a B.S. in Electrical or Computer Engineering, 2+ years of electronics hardware development experience, proficiency in schematic and board design software, hands-on experience with standard electrical lab equipment, rapid prototyping skills, and strong debugging abilities.
Preferred qualifications include experience with electronic hardware design (computing, signal conditioning, control electronics, filtering, data acquisition, C&DH), test plan development, Python test automation, trade studies for electrical/avionics architectures, PCBA inspection per IPC-A-610 Class 3, systems engineering, embedded programming, NASA standards (STD 4001/4003), digital/analog/signal conditioning circuit design, and MIL-STD-461 testing.
