Salary: USD 160,000 - 210,000 / annual

Astranis builds advanced satellites for high orbits, providing dedicated, secure networks to large enterprises, sovereign governments, and the US military. The company has five satellites on orbit with a backlog of over $1 billion in commercial contracts, and has raised $1.2 billion from top-tier investors including Andreessen Horowitz, Blackrock, and Fidelity. As Electrical Engineering Team Lead, you will directly manage and grow a team of junior and senior electrical engineers responsible for the compute, networking, and power distribution systems within Astranis spacecraft. You'll collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to define spacecraft requirements and architectures, oversee the design, build, and implementation of in-house hardware and systems, and manage detailed schedules to keep hardware development synchronized with overall program timelines. Key responsibilities include: - Directly manage and grow a team of electrical engineers - Collaborate across disciplines to define compute, networking, and power distribution requirements and architectures - Oversee design, build, and implementation of in-house hardware and systems - Drive hardware design, specification, component selection, circuit board design, implementation, verification, board bring-up, and debugging - Manage technical relationships with third-party component suppliers - Support recruiting, interviewing, and hiring of additional team members - Support production and mission operations teams on build and in-flight use of component hardware - Drive team growth through recruitment and hiring The role offers a compensation package including equity via incentive stock options, company-subsidized healthcare, disability and life insurance, 401(k) retirement planning, flexible PTO, and free on-site catered meals. REQUIREMENTS: - B.S. or higher in electrical or computer engineering, or similar technical degree - 5+ years of professional experience with fast-paced product design cycles - 5+ years of board-level experience designing electronics hardware from concept through production - Demonstrated ability to design, build, and test hardware hands-on from scratch - Demonstrated ability to build and manage teams of engineers and communicate clearly with other disciplines - Strong analog/mixed-signal circuit design skills - US Citizenship or Green Card (required to comply with US Government space technology export regulations) - Passion for hardware development and fostering teamwork in fast-paced environments BONUS QUALIFICATIONS: - 5+ years of experience designing and implementing signal conditioning, sensors, electro-mechanical actuators, power switches, embedded computers, or similar hardware - Experience with FPGAs, microcontrollers, and communication schemes (RS-485, SPI, Ethernet, I2C) - Strong understanding of C, C++, or Python - Radiation effects knowledge - Environmental test experience
