Rocket Lab is seeking an Electrical Engineer I/II to join the avionics design engineering team in Long Beach, CA. This role focuses on developing and testing avionics hardware for spacecraft programs. You will work collaboratively across engineering disciplines throughout the full lifecycle of electrical hardware development—from requirements definition through design, prototyping, fabrication, testing, and production support. Key responsibilities include developing PCBA requirements in collaboration with other teams, performing schematic capture and PCB layout using Altium Designer, conducting circuit analysis (power, tolerance, reliability), executing PCBA design verification and system integration testing, and providing manufacturing support as needed. You will have frequent opportunities to test and operate your systems on orbit. For Electrical Engineer I: Bachelor's degree in electrical, computer, or related engineering discipline required. Strong background in analog electronics design, proficiency with SPICE and Excel for circuit analysis. U.S. citizenship required due to program requirements. For Electrical Engineer II: Bachelor's degree in electrical, computer, or related engineering discipline. 2+ years of electrical hardware design experience including schematic capture and PCB layout. Strong understanding of circuit design fundamentals and electrical engineering principles. Proficiency with basic electronic lab equipment (power supplies, oscilloscopes, DMMs, signal generators, soldering irons). Experience creating and executing design verification test plans. U.S. citizenship required. Desirable qualifications include Master's degree in electrical/computer engineering, experience designing for space environments (radiation impacts/mitigation), high-reliability aerospace design experience, rigid-flex PCB and electromechanical design familiarity, FPGA design and embedded software development for ARM processors, and demonstrated ability to manage competing priorities in dynamic environments.
