Rocket Lab Robotics, part of Rocket Lab, is seeking an Electrical Engineer I/II to join the team in Pasadena, CA. You will participate in the development and test of avionics hardware for advanced robotic systems used in space exploration and satellite missions. The team specializes in high-performance robotics and precision mechanisms, including Mars-proven systems like the Perseverance Rover robotic arm and CADRE lunar rovers, as well as solar array drives, antenna gimbals, and optical payloads for spacecraft. In this role, you will work collaboratively across engineering disciplines and own projects from requirements definition through design, prototyping, fabrication, testing, and production. You will gain hands-on experience in robotics and motor control applications, FPGA and microcontroller design, and electronic ground support equipment development. Your responsibilities include schematic capture and PCB layout using Altium Designer, circuit analysis (including stress and worst-case analysis), PCBA design verification testing, system integration testing, and production manufacturing support as needed. You will bring a Bachelor's degree in electrical or computer engineering (or related discipline), strong analog electronics design skills, and proficiency with circuit analysis tools like SPICE and Excel. Experience with basic electronic lab equipment (power supplies, oscilloscopes, DMMs, signal generators, soldering) is required. Professional or academic experience with FPGA and microcontroller design is essential. For the Engineer II level, 2+ years of electrical hardware design experience is required. This is an opportunity to work on mission-critical hardware for NASA, the Space Development Agency, and U.S. Space Force programs.
