Shield AI is a venture-backed defense-tech company developing autonomous systems and unmanned aircraft to protect service members and civilians. The Hardware Test Engineering team is responsible for designing and validating cutting-edge test solutions that ensure the V-BAT UAV and other hardware systems meet the highest reliability and mission-readiness standards. In this role, you will design and automate comprehensive test systems that validate critical hardware subsystems including power electronics, RF communications, and integrated avionics. You'll work hands-on with PCB design, electrical test automation using Python scripting, and advanced environmental testing methodologies such as HASS (Highly Accelerated Life Testing), ESS (Environmental Stress Screening), and HALT (Highly Accelerated Life Testing) protocols. Key responsibilities include: - Designing custom electrical and mechanical test fixtures and systems - Developing test automation scripts and control software - Conducting environmental and reliability testing in real-world and extreme conditions - Collaborating with cross-functional teams including hardware design, manufacturing, and operations - Troubleshooting hardware failures and driving continuous improvement in test coverage - Documenting test procedures, results, and engineering analysis You should have a strong foundation in electrical engineering, hands-on experience with test equipment and instrumentation, and proficiency in Python or similar scripting languages. Experience with PCB design tools, environmental testing standards, and UAV or aerospace hardware is a plus. This is a fast-paced, multidisciplinary environment where you'll directly impact mission-critical systems.
