Impulse Space seeks an experienced Electrical Engineer to lead critical infrastructure and facilities development at their Redondo Beach headquarters and Mojave test site. You will own the complete lifecycle of facility projects—from conceptual design and planning through implementation and activation.
Key responsibilities include:
- Develop, plan, and execute site facility improvement projects in partnership with engineers, contractors, fabricators, and stakeholders
- Manage project budgets and provide regular financial updates while maintaining quality standards
- Oversee new construction projects with direct or indirect contractor management
- Identify risks and develop proactive mitigation strategies
- Manage third-party vendors and service providers to ensure compliance with standards and contracts
- Ensure code compliance with all local and federal regulations
- Manage sizing, installation, and maintenance of infrastructure, buildings, HVAC equipment, high-power electrical systems, water infrastructure, and grounds
- Lead project teams, consulting engineers, and contractors through engineering, procurement, construction, and activation phases
- Coordinate with utility providers on design and engineering for reliable power to critical infrastructure
- Evaluate existing facilities regularly and implement improvements to optimize operational efficiency
- Resolve field questions and conflicts
Requirements:
- Bachelor's or Associate's degree in Engineering or related Technology field
- 4+ years of experience in facilities engineering or related field
- Experience designing, creating, and managing facilities drawings and layouts
- Excellent project management and communication skills
- Ability to analyze complex issues, devise solutions, and implement corrective actions
- Comprehensive understanding of relevant regulations, codes, and standards for facility engineering
- Primary experience with electrical and power distribution systems (<600Vac)
- Experience with plumbing design and operation
- Knowledge of HVAC operation and design principles
- Working knowledge of delta/wye transformers, building lighting, building construction specifications, and facility grounding
- Experience with critical power infrastructure including UPS systems, backup generators, automatic transfer switches, and solar power systems
- Attention to detail with ability to quickly assess issues and assist with troubleshooting and repair
