Tycho.AI builds autonomy systems for GPS- and comms-denied environments, serving defense customers with modular AI, advanced visual-inertial sensing, and real-time edge-compute capabilities. The company is seeking an Electrical Engineer specializing in board development and RF to join the hardware team and support the design and development of autonomous air vehicles.
In this hands-on role, you will take designs from concept through prototype, test, and production. Key responsibilities include selecting components based on mission, electrical, thermal, and mechanical requirements; designing electrical board assemblies; performing board layout, sourcing, purchasing, programming, testing, and debug; conducting RF link budget and bandwidth analyses; selecting RF components and designing RF chains; and implementing encoding and compression algorithms.
You will need a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field with 3+ years of relevant experience in electrical design, prototyping, and manufacturing. Strong proficiency with Altium is required, along with working knowledge of RF hardware including radios, software-defined radios, antennas, and amplifiers. Experience with UAS-relevant radios (RFD, Microhard, Silvus, or similar) and willingness to perform field testing of RF components are essential.
Nice-to-have qualifications include experience with SDR, compression algorithms and encoding methods, GNSS, FPGAs, radars, optical sensors, and familiarity with Jira.
