Serve Robotics is building autonomous sidewalk delivery robots operating in major US cities (Los Angeles, Miami, Dallas, Atlanta, Chicago). The company is seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer to design, validate, and support electrical systems for their robotic platforms.
Key responsibilities include designing and validating electrical circuits, PCBs, and interconnect systems for autonomous robots. You will develop schematics and component selections meeting performance, reliability, and cost requirements. The role involves supporting PCB layout reviews, collaborating with cross-functional teams, and ensuring designs are manufacturable and maintainable.
You'll perform hardware bring-up, validation, and characterization of new electrical systems in partnership with firmware and software teams. Troubleshooting electrical and system-level issues is central to the role, including structured root cause analysis and failure resolution. You will develop and execute comprehensive test plans to verify electrical subsystem performance and reliability.
The position includes prototype development, hardware integration, and system testing throughout the product lifecycle. You'll partner with manufacturing teams, vendors, and suppliers to support builds, resolve issues, and drive design improvements. Documentation and engineering records maintenance are essential for supporting product development and manufacturing.
Occasional onsite support for prototype builds, manufacturing activities, and engineering validation is expected. The role may require travel to support these activities and supplier engagement.
Required qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent practical experience, 5+ years designing and testing electrical systems in robotics or consumer electronics, hands-on debugging with lab equipment (oscilloscope, function generator, spectrum analyzer, electronic load), embedded systems experience, hardware prototype bring-up and failure analysis skills, and proficiency with major ECAD tools (Altium preferred).
Desirable experience includes high-speed circuits, signal integrity measurements, debugging common interfaces (CAN, SPI, UART, I2C, USB), Python/Bash scripting for test automation, EMC/EMI compliance testing, Nvidia Jetson platform familiarity, sensor modalities (camera, LiDAR, radar, ultrasonic), cellular networking, cable harness design, and factory/overseas vendor partnership experience.
