As an Electrical Engineer on the Power Train Electrical Engineering team, you will provide on-the-ground engineering support for manufacturing, validation, and test infrastructure at our contract manufacturer in Penang, Malaysia. This is a hands-on role bridging design, manufacturing, and field operations.
Key responsibilities include:
- Provide local electrical engineering support for manufacturing builds, new product introduction (NPI), and sustaining production issues
- Troubleshoot electrical failures during manufacturing, bring-up, and system integration; drive root cause analysis to closure
- Support yield improvement, failure analysis, rework guidance, and corrective actions for PCBAs, harnesses, power systems, and electromechanical assemblies
- Plan and execute EMI scanning activities for new robots and retrofit validation on existing fleet
- Work with design and systems teams to identify emission sources and implement electrical mitigation (grounding, shielding, filtering, layout, cable routing)
- Provide technical guidance for in-circuit test (IAC) fixtures, including requirements, electrical interfaces, instrumentation, safety, and test coverage
- Support development, debug, and improvement of test fixtures for board-level and system-level verification
- Partner with contract manufacturers, test partners, and local suppliers to resolve production issues and improve readiness
- Create and maintain test procedures, troubleshooting guides, engineering documentation, and validation records
- Collaborate with remote teams across electrical engineering, systems, firmware, reliability, and manufacturing to communicate issues and drive resolution

- Hands-on troubleshooting experience with electrical and electromechanical systems in lab, manufacturing, or field environments
- Experience supporting contract manufacturers or production lines for electronic products
- Familiarity with EMI/EMC pre-scan testing, lab setup, electrical debug, and compliance-oriented validation workflows
- Experience with PCBAs, power distribution, cables, harnesses, and embedded hardware systems
- Ability to read schematics, wiring diagrams, test setups, and technical drawings
- Hands-on experience debugging electrical subsystems using oscilloscopes, power supplies, multimeters, spectrum analyzers, electronic loads, or similar tools
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to drive technical work independently through ambiguity
- Experience collaborating with cross-functional engineering, manufacturing, quality, and supplier teams
Preferred experience includes robotics, automation, consumer electronics, automotive, aerospace, or medical device industries; design for manufacturing/test methodologies; EMC mitigation at board/cable/system level; electrical test fixture or manufacturing test station development; test automation using Python, LabVIEW, or Bash; and PLM/ECO/hardware change management workflows.
The role is onsite in Penang and may require occasional travel to support suppliers, manufacturing partners, test activities, and engineering validation efforts.
