Salary: USD 149,000 - 206,000 / annual

Lightmatter is revolutionizing AI data center infrastructure through photonics technology. The company invented Passage™, a 3D-stacked photonics engine that connects thousands to millions of processors at light speed for extreme-scale data centers supporting advanced AI and HPC workloads. Recently raised $400M in Series D at $4.4B valuation. As an Electrical Design Engineer, you will contribute to developing board and system solutions that leverage Lightmatter's photonics technology for machine learning, AI, and large-scale interconnect platforms. You'll collaborate across hardware and software teams to design, bring up, and validate system-level products. Key responsibilities include: - Design and develop power, control, mixed-signal, and high-speed interconnect circuits to meet system requirements - Apply signal integrity (SI), power integrity (PI), design-for-excellence (DfX), and industry best practices - Perform board bring-up, verification, integration, and troubleshooting - Develop and execute test plans to characterize and validate board and system performance - Collaborate with cross-functional teams from concept through production - Work with component vendors, contract manufacturers, and partners - Research new components, processes, and technologies - Contribute to design reviews and maintain comprehensive documentation Required qualifications: Bachelor's in Electrical Engineering with 5+ years of experience (or Master's with 3+ years). Proficiency in schematic design using Altium or equivalent. Experience with lab experiments, board bring-up, testing, and analysis. Familiarity with Product Lifecycle Management processes and tools (Arena preferred). Preferred: experience with networking electrical systems, design/manufacturing/test processes, cross-functional development, SI/PI/DfX considerations, high-speed interfaces (PCIe, DDR, Ethernet, SerDes), and Python or scripting for test automation.
