Salary: USD 125,000 - 150,000 / annual
Muon Space, a LEO satellite constellation and space systems provider founded in 2021, seeks an EHS Specialist to own environmental, health, and safety operations across all company facilities. This is a full-time, on-site role (Monday–Friday) based in San Jose, CA.
You will serve as the primary EHS lead and point of contact for all office locations, driving end-to-end safety programs and ensuring multi-site regulatory compliance. Key responsibilities include developing and maintaining core safety plans, emergency action plans, and site-specific evacuation maps; establishing and managing hazardous materials communication (HazCom) and chemical disposal programs; managing regulatory accounts and credentials (CERS, EPA identification numbers); conducting regular onsite inspections and floor walks to identify hazards and maintain OSHA/local code compliance; leading root cause analysis for workplace incidents, spills, and near-misses; and delivering safety onboarding and HazCom training to internal teams and contractors.
You will work independently to start and complete critical safety initiatives with minimal oversight, taking full ownership of projects from conception to completion. The role requires proactive hazard identification, cross-functional collaboration, and the ability to influence without direct authority.
Required qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Science, Chemistry, or related field (or equivalent practical experience); 3+ years of hands-on EHS experience in commercial office operations, tech facilities, labs/R&D, or manufacturing; proven track record of autonomous project ownership; direct experience managing regulatory reporting platforms (CERS or equivalents) and compliance credentials; strong working knowledge of OSHA/state standards, EPA hazardous waste rules (RCRA), local fire codes, and emergency response planning; and clear written and verbal communication skills.
Nice-to-have: DOT/IATA or RCRA Hazardous Waste Training certification; experience with design/diagramming tools (Bluebeam, Lucidchart, AutoCAD) or ticketing systems (Asana, Jira).
