Applied Intuition is seeking a Robotic Software Engineer to design and integrate complex autonomy and vehicle intelligence systems for defense and commercial customers. You will work on unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) and autonomous systems, integrating hardware and software onto vehicle platforms and deploying autonomy algorithms in simulation (SIL), hardware-in-the-loop (HIL), and live test environments.
Key responsibilities include adapting and developing modular autonomy capabilities across diverse defense problems; integrating and deploying autonomy solutions onto embedded Linux platforms with sensor interfacing and data collection; troubleshooting complex integration and software issues; integrating autonomy software with aircraft autopilots, datalinks, sensors, GPS/INS, and ground control stations; supporting live flight tests on Group 1-5 UAVs; collaborating with third-party UAS vendors on OEM hardware integration; conducting system-level setup, testing, and validation; and implementing service-oriented-architecture software and inter-process messaging systems.
Required qualifications: BS or MS in Robotics, Computer Science, or related engineering; 3+ years hands-on experience with robotic systems (hardware, software, integration); C++ programming; experience with Pixhawk autopilots (ArduPilot/PX4); familiarity with communication protocols (UART, SPI, I2C, Ethernet); Docker and Linux development; git and VS Code; real-time and edge computing systems; excellent communication skills; willingness to travel 10-20% for on-site integration and demonstrations; U.S. citizenship; and eligibility for U.S. security clearance.
Nice-to-have skills include modern C++ standards, Bash, CMake, FAA Part 107 Remote Pilot Certificate, Agile/CI-CD experience, COTS hardware integration (Nvidia Jetson, Raspberry Pi), and active U.S. SECRET clearance.
