Okta is seeking an Engineering Manager to lead the Documentation Tools team within the Builder Experience department. You will report to the Information Development Director and manage a team of engineers responsible for building and maintaining help.okta.com and developer.okta.com, which serve the Information Development, Builder Advocacy, and Content Strategy teams.
Key responsibilities include:
- Leading a team of engineers building and maintaining Okta's documentation platforms
- Driving AI adoption across the team's deliverables to enhance stakeholder productivity, quality, and speed
- Developing and implementing the Doc Tools roadmap in collaboration with team leads
- Recruiting, mentoring, and developing engineers as they advance their careers
- Establishing clear priorities, expectations, and accountability
- Collaborating on Builder Experience roadmap delivery
Required qualifications:
- 10+ years as a software engineer with significant frontend experience
- 3+ years building and leading engineering teams
- 3+ years in technical management
- Deep understanding of at least one major cloud provider (AWS, Azure, or GCP)
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent
- Experience managing software engineering teams with end-to-end technical ownership
- Hands-on experience with AI-assisted development tools (GitHub Copilot, Claude, Codex)
- Familiarity with CI/CD tools (GitHub, CircleCI, Vercel, Artifactory)
- Comfort leading geographically distributed teams
Desired experience includes documentation team background, knowledge of DITA and documentation tools, and localization experience. The role is hybrid-based in Bengaluru.
