Talon.One's Developer Experience (DevX) team is seeking a Documentation Engineer to support customers integrating and using the platform. The role bridges technical writing and software engineering, requiring both coding skills and documentation expertise.
You will write reference documentation, integration guides, tutorials, and product documentation for two primary audiences: marketing users (campaign managers, loyalty managers) and backend engineers integrating APIs. Working alongside the current documentation engineer, you'll co-own the pipeline from OpenAPI specifications to published API reference, including validation, transformation, and deployment. You'll build and maintain scripts and CI jobs to reduce manual work for the technical writing team through tooling and process improvements.
Key responsibilities include contributing to OpenAPI spec quality by collaborating with writers and engineers on field naming, example coverage, and schema structure. You'll make deliberate decisions about how documentation is structured for AI agent consumption, not only human readers. The team uses a docs-as-code approach with content in GitHub and documentation running on Docusaurus, with API reference generated from OpenAPI specifications.
Required skills: developer empathy and ability to write clear, accurate content; proficiency writing code independently (scripts, debugging, shipping solutions without heavy AI reliance); comfort with JavaScript/TypeScript; fluency with CI/CD pipelines; experience reading OpenAPI 3.x specifications; understanding of machine-readable documentation; practical daily experience with AI tools, especially Claude; and a preference for correctness over volume.
The tech stack includes Docusaurus, GitHub/GitHub Actions, Scalar for API reference rendering, OpenAPI 3.x, JavaScript/TypeScript, and Claude for AI-assisted workflows.
