Anduril Industries is a defense technology company transforming U.S. and allied military capabilities through advanced technology. The Discovery team tackles hard, unproven concepts across space, missiles, air, sensors, autonomy, and cyber—deciding what is worth building and proving it out through models, tests, and prototypes before handing off to programs. As a Discovery Engineer (Modeling & Simulation), you will own new concepts from first idea through analysis, prototype, and test, driving them to validated answers. You will learn new technical domains rapidly—reading references, building models, validating against known results, then extending them. You will build or adapt the models, simulations, and test setups required by each problem, using existing tools where appropriate and building custom solutions where needed. Key responsibilities include: - Own new concepts end-to-end: from initial idea through analysis, prototype, test, and validated answer - Learn new domains quickly enough to do real work: absorb references, build models, validate against known results, extend into new territory - Build or adapt models, simulations, and test setups as needed, leveraging existing tools or building custom solutions - Pressure-test your own work and others': hunt failure modes, surface hidden assumptions, stress trade studies before decisions lock in - Use AI tools as a force multiplier for research, code, and analysis, with judgment about when outputs must be verified against references - Collaborate shoulder-to-shoulder with Hardware, Software, GNC, and other teams; translate results into design decisions - Communicate results to engineers, leadership, and customers with strong visual presentation of complex data This is a hands-on technical role on internally and externally funded programs within Anduril's Discovery Business Line, operating on operationally relevant timelines. REQUIREMENTS: - Currently possess and be able to maintain an active U.S. Top Secret security clearance - Demonstrated experience working in more than one technical area - Track record of building, designing, testing, or fielding something real in any field - Proficiency in at least one physics-math scripting environment (Python with numpy/scipy, MATLAB/Simulink, Julia, or similar) - Strong written, verbal, and visual communication skills PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: - 4+ years in a relevant science/engineering field - Math, physics, or engineering degree or equivalent - Proficiency with AI tools (coding assistants, agents, model-driven research) in day-to-day engineering work, with judgment about when to trust their output - Experience in several of: space systems, missiles and missile defense, air vehicles, GNC, sensors and sensor fusion, radar, EW, acoustics, autonomy, or similar (breadth across these counts more than depth in any one) - Familiarity with domain analysis tools as relevant (STK/Astrogator, AFSIM, HFSS, Fluent, or similar)
