BitGo (NYSE: BTGO) is seeking a Director of Technical Program Management to build and lead the TPM function from the ground up within the R&D organization. BitGo is a digital asset infrastructure company providing custody, wallets, staking, trading, financing, stablecoins, and settlement services. The company operates as a regulated financial institution (BitGo Bank & Trust, National Association) serving thousands of institutions globally.
This is a foundational role addressing a critical gap: while individual product managers own specific workstreams, no one owns the connective tissue across teams—delivery operating rhythm, cross-team dependencies, regulatory submission pipelines, and audit-driven remediation programs that span product, engineering, compliance, legal, and finance.
You will own timely and predictable delivery of the product portfolio, ensuring dates mean something and cross-team programs (acquisition integrations, legal-entity restructurings, partner migrations) execute end-to-end. You will build trust between product and regulatory, compliance, legal, finance, and audit partners by running programs where product delivery and control exposure intersect—new-product regulatory review pipelines with fixed examiner deadlines, audit-finding remediation, and delivery against regulator commitments.
You will maintain the single source of truth for resource allocation, program sequencing, and risk exposure, surfacing contradictions (committed goals with unstaffed dependencies, duplicate ownership, orphaned cross-team dependencies) before they become quarter-end misses. You will establish and run the product operating rhythm: initiative status that is current and honest, launch readiness that commercial can sell against, and a working blocker-escalation path with SLAs.
You start as the first program manager for R&D, hands-on and running the highest-exposure programs yourself, and will build out the function within one year by hiring 1–2 TPMs against proven need. You will set the bar for what program management means at BitGo: outcome-accountable, technically fluent, and light-touch on teams already delivering.
Success in the first two quarters means: every regulated-delivery program has a dated plan reconciled against external deadlines with gaps escalated in writing; committed goals and staffing are reconciled with zero commitments carrying unstaffed critical-path dependencies that leadership hasn't explicitly accepted; at least one integration or entity program demonstrably run end-to-end through your operating model; and product leads report coordination overhead went down, not up.
You will partner closely with product managers (who keep outcome accountability), engineering leadership (who own technical decisions and estimates), compliance/legal/risk (who own regulatory judgment), commercial leadership (who own revenue and client commitments), and finance/audit (who track control-remediation milestones against the audit calendar).
This role requires full-time onsite presence at the Palo Alto office to support collaborative team dynamics and innovative problem-solving.
REQUIREMENTS:
- 8+ years in technical program management, with 3+ years leading TPM teams or functions, ideally including founding one
- Delivery leadership in a regulated financial environment: experience running programs with examiner deadlines, audit findings, SOX-adjacent controls, or material-weakness remediation; understanding of how public-company audit exposure changes program management
- Technical credibility with platform engineering: ability to read architecture discussions, pressure-test estimates, and hold your own in sequencing conversations with senior engineers
- Demonstrated experience with at least one of: M&A integration, legal-entity restructuring, or large multi-party partner migrations
- Ability to operate through influence in organizations where authority is split across reporting lines; getting things done with people who don't report to you and don't want another meeting
- Writing-first operator: default artifacts are documents and dependency maps, not status meetings
- Crypto/digital-asset domain experience is a plus, not a requirement; regulated-fintech delivery experience matters more
