As Director of Strategic Finance & Operations, you will own Mesh's financial strategy, operating agenda, and business metrics. Key responsibilities include: - Owning the annual budget and monthly forecast across ten departments, with quarterly budget review calls - Building and maintaining a driver-based operating model covering payment volume, take rates, contract minimums, subsidies, headcount, and vendor spend - Producing quarterly board financials and monthly management packs (revenue, gross margin, spend vs. budget, burn, runway, cash) - Running monthly P&L flux reviews and assembling financial statement packages with the accounting team - Coordinating monthly business reviews and quarterly OKR reviews, tracking commitments and calling out misses with data - Owning company metric definitions and payments metrics to ensure consistent reporting across leadership - Conducting hands-on data analysis using Claude and other AI tools to pull, model, and interpret data - Running the financial workstream on acquisitions: models, valuation, synergy cases, due diligence, and coordination - Leading capital allocation analysis for new products, corridors, and incentives (rate subsidies, build vs. buy) - Planning capital for licensed entities, projecting net worth and EU capital headroom - Approving pricing exceptions outside agreed deal guardrails - Building sales capacity and quota models with the CRO - Supporting org design and cross-functional programs for CFO and CEO - Leading a Manager of FinOps, RevOps & Finance Systems - Confirming budget availability on purchase orders above approval thresholds Metrics you will own include volume (by product, active accounts, concentration), monetization (net revenue, take rates, usage against minimums), unit economics (cost per transaction, subsidies, contribution margin), retention (gross/net revenue retention, logo churn, silent churn), growth (new logos, time to go-live, ramp to committed volume, pipeline coverage, win rate), and efficiency/cash metrics (CAC payback, burn multiple, DSO, bad debt). Success milestones: At 90 days, you will own the FY27 budget and run its first reforecast, establish a metric dictionary agreed by CFO/CRO/Product, run bi-weekly business reviews on one set of numbers, and deliver board financials on time. At 6 months, you will have completed quarterly budget reviews with every department, set and reviewed OKRs quarterly, built unit economics by product, and established a diligence model template used on every deal. The role is based remotely but with hybrid expectations: employees in San Francisco, New York, and Bangalore hubs are expected to work from the office at least 40% of the time (approximately two days per week), with potential variation by role and business needs. **Requirements:** - 8+ years combining strategy consulting (Big Four strategy practice or similar), investment banking, private equity, or FP&A, with at least 2–4 years operating in-house at a fintech, payments, or high-growth company - End-to-end budget process experience with department leaders and board-level reporting ownership - Strong modeling skills, including M&A or investment models - Built and ran an operating cadence or OKR process across functions - Hands-on with data and AI: uses Claude and similar tools to pull, model, analyze data, and build reporting directly (no dedicated analytics team to hand work to) - Presence to challenge senior leaders with data while maintaining relationships **Nice to have:** - Crypto experience - Capital planning for regulated entities - Experience managing systems or data builders
