Klaviyo is seeking a Director of Site Reliability Engineering to build and lead the SRE function from their new Dublin office. This is a foundational leadership role establishing a center of excellence for platform integrity and supporting Klaviyo's European expansion.
You will architect and lead a unified SRE organization, defining vision, strategy, and roadmap while building and mentoring a world-class, multi-disciplinary team of engineers in Dublin. You'll foster a culture of operational excellence, proactive problem-solving, and blameless learning.
Key responsibilities include: championing a "reliable by design" philosophy across engineering; partnering with product and platform teams to embed reliability principles into the software development lifecycle; owning availability, latency, performance efficiency, change management, monitoring, emergency response, and capacity planning for Klaviyo's global platform; building automated, self-service tooling and infrastructure (the "paved road") that enables teams to move fast without shortcuts; and commanding reliability incidents while fostering blameless post-mortems that drive systemic improvements.
You are a proven engineering leader with 12+ years of software engineering experience, including 5+ years managing SRE teams. You have deep, hands-on experience with cloud-native production systems at scale (AWS preferred), distributed systems, observability, container orchestration (Kubernetes), infrastructure as code (Terraform), and CI/CD principles. You've built and scaled engineering teams, ideally with experience establishing new teams or offices. You manage geographically distributed teams effectively, fostering unified culture across time zones. You are intellectually curious, action-biased, a cross-functional influencer with exceptional communication skills, and a player-coach who balances technical depth with strategic vision. You thrive in high ambiguity, embody a "1% done" mindset, and are passionate about building strong, inclusive team culture.
