Anduril Industries, a defense technology company, seeks a Director of Test & Evaluation Engineering to lead a diverse team of test engineers and maintenance personnel across multiple unmanned aerial systems (UAS) and weapon systems. This role is responsible for developing and executing comprehensive test and evaluation strategies for system integration, planning, execution, and operations across the company's product portfolio.
Key responsibilities include leading flight test engineers and control room personnel, managing technical efforts across system and subsystem levels, and overseeing all test and integration activities. The Director will interface with program leadership, manage resource constraints, and directly contribute to engineering reviews and technical discussions with customer representatives. The role requires planning, executing, and reporting on lab, ground, and flight tests, including test data collection and analysis.
The successful candidate will work with FAA and military certifying agencies to establish test range certificates of authorization (COAs) and conduct testing at both private and government-owned ranges. This position demands expertise in developmental aircraft and payload integration, with 12+ years of test conductor/director experience or 10+ years as a lead test conductor for developmental weapon or missile systems on manned and/or unmanned aircraft.
Required qualifications include a bachelor's degree in engineering or related technical discipline, complete understanding of engineering concepts and principles, and broad knowledge of related technical specialties. Candidates must demonstrate expertise in surrogate booster motor integration, vehicle/payload/ground safety equipment requirements, and familiarity with missile technology programs. Strong understanding of DoD program processes (EVM, MIL-STD-881), military standards (MIL-STD-8591, MIL-STD-2088, MIL-STD-1553, MIL-STD-1760, AS8775, AS5653), and experience with ground or ship-based launch systems is essential. Knowledge of DCMA INST 8210, MIL-STD-516, National Airspace System, and UAS operating rules is required.
