Anduril Industries, a defense technology company, seeks a Director of Test & Evaluation Engineering to lead a diverse team of test engineers and maintenance personnel across unmanned aircraft systems (UAS) and weapon systems. This role combines strategic leadership with hands-on technical expertise in developmental testing, integration, and flight operations.
You will report to program leadership and oversee all test and evaluation efforts at system and subsystem levels, including full system development testing, production acceptance testing, and sub-component qualification. Key responsibilities include: leading and building a cross-functional team; developing and executing T&E strategies for integration, planning, and operations; managing technical efforts of flight test engineers and control room personnel; coordinating test progress tracking and communication; interfacing with program leadership on resource constraints; and contributing to engineering reviews with customer representatives.
You will directly plan, execute, and report on lab, ground, and flight tests, overseeing data collection and analysis. The role requires working with FAA and military certifying agencies to establish test range certificates of authorization (COAs) and conducting testing at both private and government-owned ranges. You will also support growth and proposal teams during contract shaping and expansion activities.
Required qualifications include a bachelor's degree in engineering or related technical discipline, plus 12+ years as a test conductor/director for developmental aircraft and payload integration, or 10+ years as a lead test conductor for developmental weapon/missile systems on manned/unmanned aircraft. You must demonstrate deep understanding of engineering concepts, vehicle/payload/ground safety requirements, and the ability to quickly grasp new concepts and solve complex problems.
Specialized experience required: surrogate booster motor integration, system engineering and DoD program processes (EVM, MIL-STD-881), military standards (MIL-STD-8591, MIL-STD-2088, MIL-STD-1553, MIL-STD-1760, AS8775, AS5653), ground/ship-based launch systems integration, suspension/arming/release equipment, and DoD compliance (DCMA INST 8210, MIL-STD-516). Knowledge of National Airspace System and UAS operating rules is essential.
