Cardless is a Series C fintech (raised $60M in Sept 2025, $170M+ total funding) that enables major brands to build credit card programs into their ecosystems using AI. Customers include Coinbase, Bilt Rewards, Alibaba, Qatar Airways, and LATAM Airlines. The company powers cards across Visa, Mastercard, and American Express, and operates with agentic servicing at a fraction of traditional card issuer headcount. The team is 70+ people and scaling toward profitability by end of 2026.
This is Cardless's first product marketing hire — a senior, hands-on individual contributor role to define market positioning and close the gap between what the market perceives and what Cardless actually does.
Key Responsibilities:
Define Market Positioning: Develop and continuously refine positioning against competitors (in-house programs, legacy processors, co-brand platforms). Create narratives that work for two audiences simultaneously: enterprise partners evaluating a platform and eventual cardholders. Track competitive landscape and bring outside-in perspective to internal roadmap conversations.
Own Website and Brand Narrative: Own content strategy and copy for cardless.com, keeping it current with launches and partnerships. Direct design and engineering resources to execute changes. Ensure all public-facing surfaces tell a consistent story. Treat the website as a living asset, not a one-time project.
Build Sales Toolkit: Create and maintain pitch decks, one-pagers, case studies, competitive battlecards, and RFP boilerplate used by the Business team. Partner closely with Business leadership to learn what wins and loses deals, then rebuild collateral accordingly. Turn partner wins into credible case studies.
Drive Launches and External Content: Plan and execute go-to-market for new products, features, and partnerships. Drive external content (blog, case studies, LinkedIn, speaking opportunities) that reinforces positioning. Prioritize and sequence launches strategically. Direct contractors and agencies on creative assets.
Requirements:
- 5–8+ years in product marketing with real ownership of positioning and messaging at a B2B or B2B2C company. Fintech, payments, or card issuing experience is a strong plus.
- Track record of owning both company website and sales collateral built from the same narrative.
- Strong writer who can translate complex financial/technical products into clear stories for enterprise buyers and separate but consistent stories for consumer-facing card marketing.
- Builder mindset, not just strategist — hands-on IC role with no existing PMM function. You'll write decks yourself.
- Experience working directly and iteratively with sales/partnerships teams; collateral gets rebuilt based on real deal feedback.
- Comfortable directing outside design/creative resources to achieve production-quality output without being the designer.
- Narrative and positioning craft: ability to find compelling stories in complex financial products with sharp, defensible points of view.
- Two-audience fluency (B2B2C): ability to shift fluidly between enterprise executive teams and consumer cardholder experience.
- Writing: clear, persuasive writing in your own voice; you write first drafts of decks, web copy, one-pagers and they land.
- Sales partnership: real time spent in rooms with Business Development and Account Management; you know what's landing in live conversations.
- Design direction (not execution): strong eye to direct contractors/agencies to polished results.
- Judgment and autonomy: first PMM hire means no playbook; you prioritize across positioning, website, and collateral independently.
