Boulder Care, a Series C-funded digital clinic specializing in addiction medicine and behavioral health, is seeking a Director of Payer Partnerships to lead the company's expansion into value-based care models. This is a strategic sales leadership role focused on building and negotiating complex partnerships with health plans, Medicaid Managed Care Organizations (MCOs), Medicare Advantage plans, and commercial insurers. You will own the full sales cycle for new payer partnerships, from initial prospecting through contract negotiation and execution. A significant portion of your work (60%) involves driving payer sales and negotiating value-based care (VBC) and pay-for-performance contracts. You'll lead strategic renegotiations with existing fee-for-service partners, transitioning them into progressive risk-sharing frameworks. You'll be the primary negotiator on contract terms, rates, and performance metrics, building data-driven value propositions tailored to each health plan's population and priorities. You'll also shape strategy and build pipeline (25% of time), conducting market research on regional payer landscapes, competitor positioning, and regulatory shifts. You'll identify and prioritize high-value targets using CRM tools to forecast revenue and report on key sales metrics. The remaining 15% involves cross-functional collaboration: sharing market feedback with product, operations, and clinical teams to inform development and pricing; partnering with Partner Success teams post-signature to ensure smooth implementation; and representing Boulder Care at industry conferences and payer summits as a thought leader. You bring 5-7+ years of progressive healthcare sales, payer contracting, network development, or managed care experience. You have a proven track record closing complex VBC, shared savings, or pay-for-performance contracts with health plans. You understand alternative payment models, population health strategies, and the operational mechanics of Medicaid, Medicare Advantage, and commercial plans. You're skilled at financial modeling, contract negotiation, and translating clinical outcomes into compelling financial narratives for C-suite audiences. You thrive with autonomy in fast-paced, high-growth environments and bring integrity and strategic thinking aligned with Boulder Care's mission-driven values.
