Salary: USD 225,000 - 275,000 / annual

Oklo is seeking a Director of Transmission & Interconnection to lead the company's grid interconnection strategy across all development sites. This is a people-management role reporting to the VP of Origination & Energy Strategy, with responsibility for managing a team of Senior Interconnection Specialists and Analysts. You will own Oklo's interconnection queue positions and transmission study outcomes, which directly impact project viability, cost, and timeline. You will serve as the primary interface with RTOs, ISOs, and utilities on behalf of the Development organization, and partner closely with the Director of Project Development on schedule integration. Key responsibilities include: - Develop and execute interconnection strategy for Oklo's project pipeline, including queue entry timing, study management, and Generator Interconnection Agreement (GIA) negotiation - Manage all FERC, RTO/ISO, and utility interconnection processes across multiple active projects simultaneously - Lead transmission feasibility and impact studies, including coordination with third-party consultants - Negotiate GIAs and related transmission/distribution agreements - Monitor and respond to FERC Order 2023 and evolving interconnection rule changes affecting Oklo's portfolio - Partner with Project Development leadership to align interconnection timelines with overall project schedules - Build and manage a team of interconnection professionals over time - Assess interconnection and electric service requirements for Isotope production facilities co-located with or proximate to Aurora powerhouse sites, including behind-the-meter load configurations and dedicated service agreements - Support transmission and distribution planning for Nuclear Lifecycle Innovation Campuses (NLICs), where multiple load centers and generation sources may require coordinated interconnection and grid service solutions Oklo is developing fast fission power plants to deliver clean, reliable, and affordable energy at scale, establishing a domestic supply chain for critical radioisotopes, and advancing nuclear fuel recycling. The company was the first to receive a site use permit from the U.S. Department of Energy for a commercial advanced fission plant and submitted the first custom combined license application for an advanced reactor to the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission. The role is hybrid based in Santa Clara, CA. Remote employees are required to travel to headquarters twice a quarter annually for team meetings, off-sites, and company events. The first two weeks of onboarding must be completed in person at Santa Clara headquarters. QUALIFICATIONS: - 10+ years in power generation interconnection, transmission planning, or utility regulatory affairs - Hands-on experience managing FERC/RTO interconnection processes (MISO, PJM, WECC, SPP, NYISO, or CAISO preferred) - Deep familiarity with transmission studies, queue management, and GIA negotiation - Nuclear, baseload, or co-located generation interconnection experience is a strong differentiator - Advocacy work on interconnection processes and experience working with Commission staff and leadership - Large Load interconnection process experience is highly desired - Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, power systems, or related field strongly preferred Desired competencies: passion for clean energy and advanced fission; ability to learn quickly; comfort in fast-paced, highly iterative startup environments; creative problem-solving; excellent written and verbal communication; detail-oriented; team-oriented; self-motivated.
