Redesign Health, a venture and applied technology firm focused on building next-generation healthcare companies, has partnered with Cedars-Sinai to launch a Digital Innovation Platform—a venture creation engine embedded inside one of the world's premier academic medical centers. This role is the technical engine of that partnership.
As Director of Technology, you will work alongside the VP of Technology, AI Ventures and the New Ventures team, embedded within Cedars-Sinai's clinical ecosystem. Your core responsibilities include:
**Opportunity Evaluation & Technical Diligence**: Work directly with Cedars-Sinai clinicians, researchers, and operational leaders to surface high-conviction clinical problems. Apply rigorous technical judgment to assess solvability, distinguish genuine technical moats from hype, and evaluate whether AI creates durable competitive advantage or merely a demo.
**Thesis Development**: Translate clinical pain points into original, technically-grounded venture theses anchored in workflow integration, stakeholder willingness to pay, and credible technology delivery. Identify the critical questions for each concept and resolve them through primary research and hands-on prototyping.
**Technical Risk Mitigation**: Lead technical evaluation of concepts, tools, models, data platforms, and vendors. Build prototypes and proofs-of-concept that de-risk the hardest technical assumptions before funding. Present concepts to the Investment Committee with honest technical risk assessment and a clear path to Cedars-Sinai as design partner and first customer.
**Founder Support**: Help exceptional founders make strong early technical decisions around architecture, build-vs-buy, data strategy, AI/ML approach, and hiring. Once companies are funded, facilitate access to Cedars-Sinai's provider network and data platform for piloting, implementation, and research validation.
**AI-Enabled Scaling**: Continuously embed your differentiated knowledge and technical evaluations into LLM-enabled systems and workflows, compressing landscaping, competitive mapping, and technical research from months to weeks while preserving your time for irreplaceable judgment and building.
**Community Building**: Cultivate relationships with local universities and technical talent to position the Cedars-Sinai Digital Innovation Platform as the center of gravity for healthcare founders in Los Angeles.
You bring product and engineering conviction; Cedars-Sinai brings clinical truth and the first customer. Initial focus areas include personalized medicine, specialty care access, hospital workflow optimization, clinical decision support, and care coordination.
