Oura is seeking a Director of Sustainability to lead the company's enterprise sustainability strategy and build the systems to support it. This is a new director-level role and the first dedicated sustainability leader at Oura, reporting into Supply Chain with company-wide responsibility.
The Director will develop Oura's sustainability point of view at the company level, working with Product, Industrial Design, Hardware Engineering, and Supply Chain leaders to shape the product roadmap, design choices, materials, manufacturing, and supplier strategy. Key responsibilities include:
Setting Enterprise Sustainability Strategy: Define Oura's sustainability principles and multi-year roadmap, establish prioritization frameworks based on impact and business value, recommend investment areas, track regulatory and industry changes, and set targets and measurement systems.
Building the Operating Model: Integrate sustainability into product requirements, design reviews, sourcing decisions, supplier selection, manufacturing, logistics, packaging, and end-of-life planning. Define cross-functional ownership, create executive scorecards and review cadences, build team capability, and develop standards and training.
Reducing Product and Supply-Chain Impact: Build baseline footprint assessments (Scope 1, 2, 3 emissions), identify high-value reduction opportunities across materials, manufacturing, packaging, freight, and recycling. Partner on material choices, durability, and lifecycle tradeoffs. Work with manufacturing and logistics partners on energy, waste, and emissions. Set carbon offset policy.
Improving Supplier Sustainability: Own the supplier sustainability and corporate responsibility program in partnership with Sourcing, Quality, Legal, and Manufacturing.
This role requires someone who can set direction, work through details, build relationships across the company, and make sound decisions with incomplete information. The position is hybrid based in San Francisco, with expectation of 2-3 days onsite per week.
