K2 Space is a Series D-funded aerospace company building the largest and highest-power satellites ever flown. With over $1 billion in total funding and $1 billion in signed contracts across commercial and US government customers, K2 is mass-producing advanced satellite platforms for missions from low Earth orbit to deep space. The company plans multiple launches in 2027 and aims to scale to 100 satellites annually.
The Director of State and Local Government Affairs will build and sustain K2's presence and relationships across California's state and local government ecosystems. This is a high-visibility leadership role focused on the California State Legislature, the Governor's office, relevant state regulatory agencies, and Los Angeles-area local government bodies.
Key responsibilities include developing and executing K2's California state and local engagement strategy to drive awareness, unlock support for growth plans, and navigate policy or regulatory hurdles. The role involves briefing state, local, and federal VIPs on K2's mission and growth plans; leading planning and execution for hosting officials at the company's manufacturing facility; identifying and attending key state and local events to build visibility and relationships; and monitoring legislative and regulatory activity relevant to K2's business.
The Director will register as a state lobbyist as required and represent K2 in direct engagement with state and local officials. Building relationships with legislative staff, agency officials, and local government stakeholders across the political spectrum is essential. The role requires close collaboration with government affairs and communications teams to ensure seamless strategy execution across all levels of government.
