Back Market is a global marketplace for refurbished devices, helping reduce environmental impact by providing trustworthy, affordable tech with 92% less carbon emissions than new devices.
As Director of Rewards, Data & Analytics, you will lead a strategic function that integrates total rewards, people data, and workforce economics into a unified decision system. You will join the People Leadership Team and manage a team of three experts covering compensation, people data & HR analytics, and cost control & workforce planning, plus external benefits and immigration providers.
Your responsibilities span two core mandates:
**Total Rewards & Compensation:** Design and operate a competitive, fair, and financially sustainable reward system encompassing compensation, stock options, BSPCE (French equity plans), benefits, and international mobility. Own the global compensation framework including job architecture, salary ranges, benchmarking, and pay positioning. Lead annual compensation reviews with Finance, advise executives and People Partners on offers, promotions, and retention decisions. Monitor internal pay equity and prepare Back Market for EU Pay Transparency Directive compliance.
**People Data & Workforce Economics:** Build and own the HR Cockpit, defining key people metrics on Workday aligned with company data standards. Co-steer workforce planning and people cost trajectory with Finance, modeling scenarios for organizational decisions across headcount, compensation, equity, benefits, and contingent workers. Provide leadership with reliable, shared visibility of headcount, people costs, and workforce trends.
**Equity Programs:** Own governance and principles for stock options and BSPCE programs. Ensure reliable, documented, and auditable lifecycle management from grant to exit. Help employees understand and value their equity holdings.
**Benefits & International Mobility:** Set principles for global and local benefits and immigration. Manage external providers on compliance, quality, cost, and employee experience as the company scales internationally.
**Governance & Risk:** Ensure reward decisions and sensitive data are handled with clear governance, approvals, auditability, and data protection. Flag reward-related risks early.
You will set the hub's vision and roadmap, define decision rights with People Partners, Finance, Legal, Payroll, and People Operations, and shape People strategy as a member of the People Leadership Team.
**Requirements:**
- Significant experience leading a Total Rewards or Compensation & Benefits function in an international, multi-site company. Scale-up, tech, or marketplace experience strongly preferred.
- Hands-on ownership of stock option and BSPCE programs (or comparable French equity plans): governance, allocation, and lifecycle management.
- Track record running people cost and headcount planning with Finance, and building or rebuilding HR data and analytics capability.
- Multi-country practice across Europe and at least one of the US or APAC, with working knowledge of pay transparency and pay equity requirements.
- Credibility with CEO, CFO, and Executive Committee; ability to deliver fact-based recommendations and challenge constructively.
- Sound judgment balancing fairness, business needs, market competitiveness, and financial sustainability.
- Builder mindset: comfort shaping a hub still taking form with a lean team, staying close to detail to guarantee quality.
- Ability to explain complex reward and equity topics simply and handle sensitive matters with discretion.
- Fluent English (working language of the company).
