1Kosmos is seeking a Director of Quality Assurance to lead QA strategy, processes, and team building at a high-growth Series B identity and authentication company. You will report to the SVP of Engineering and Chief Architect and own the complete QA function across a platform spanning web, mobile, APIs, biometric components, and thousands of document types and integrations.
Key responsibilities include:
**QA Strategy & Execution**: Define and run QA strategy across functional, regression, performance, and security testing. Establish quality standards, test plans, and best practices. Ensure requirements are testable and aligned with customer expectations.
**Test Automation at Scale**: Design and build automated test platforms using Selenium, Node.js, scripting, and JMeter integrated into CI/CD pipelines. Close the current automation gap and reduce manual testing burden on high-risk paths.
**Team Leadership**: Lead, mentor, and grow a distributed QA team including recruitment and performance management. Build a center of excellence and set accountability standards.
**Cross-Functional Partnership**: Build trust with Customer Success, engineering, and leadership. Serve as the voice of quality in release readiness reviews and own the quality gate for releases.
**Metrics & Accountability**: Define KPIs around defect density, escape rates, test coverage, automation velocity, release stability, and on-time delivery.
In your first 90 days, you will audit the QA stack and release process, establish trusted KPIs and quality gates, build partnership with Customer Success, and meaningfully scale automation coverage.
**Requirements:**
- 10+ years of software QA experience, including 5+ years of hands-on QA leadership at Head of QA or Director level in high-growth B2B SaaS or cybersecurity
- Proven record of building and scaling QA teams in fast-paced environments; experience at companies known for engineering rigor is a strong signal
- Deep technical credibility across QA methodologies, test automation frameworks, and performance testing (both automation and manual)
- Domain fluency in identity verification and authentication with genuine customer mindset
- Working toolset: Selenium, scripting languages, Node.js, JMeter, CI/CD pipelines, API integrations in cloud-based architectures (AWS, GCP, Azure); ability to write code when needed
- Real, hands-on AI fluency; daily use of AI copilots for test writing and test case generation; hands-on experience building with AI and agentic systems in QA
- Sharp analytical instincts and strong communication; ability to manage stakeholders with confidence and balance strategic planning with hands-on execution
**Preferred qualifications:**
- Experience in SaaS or enterprise software environments, ideally cybersecurity or identity
- Background in AI/ML product QA or identity verification software testing
- Experience managing offshore or distributed QA teams
- Familiarity with security testing and regulatory compliance requirements
- Depth in performance, load, and scalability testing tools
