Oklo is seeking a Director of Project Development to lead end-to-end execution of the Aurora advanced fission powerhouse development pipeline. This is a director-level role managing a growing team of Project Developers at varying seniority levels, responsible for advancing 5–10+ concurrent projects from site control through financial close and first nuclear technology platform (FNTP).
You will own the stage-gate development process for a portfolio of Aurora powerhouse sites, driving each project through site control, engineering readiness, NRC permitting coordination, interconnection, and financial close. Key responsibilities include: owning individual project schedules, budgets, and risk registers; leading cross-functional coordination across Development Engineering, Transmission & Interconnection, Environmental & Permitting, and Finance teams; building and mentoring a growing Project Development team; representing projects in executive-level milestone reviews and board reporting; supporting development of projects across other Oklo business lines (Oklo Isotopes); and coordinating development activities for Nuclear Lifecycle Innovation Campuses (NLICs)—multi-use nuclear sites integrating power generation, isotope production, and advanced nuclear research.
Oklo is developing fast fission power plants to deliver clean, reliable, and affordable energy at scale, establishing a domestic supply chain for critical radioisotopes, and advancing nuclear fuel recycling. The company was the first to receive a site use permit from the U.S. Department of Energy for a commercial advanced fission plant, was awarded fuel material from Idaho National Laboratory, and submitted the first custom combined license application for an advanced reactor to the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission.
The role is hybrid based in Santa Clara, CA. Remote employees are required to travel to headquarters twice per quarter for team meetings, off-sites, and company events. The first two weeks of onboarding are in-person at Santa Clara headquarters.
Oklo values collaboration, humility, ownership, and pathfinding. The ideal candidate is a startup-oriented person who thrives in fast-paced, iterative environments, is self-motivated, an excellent communicator, creative problem-solver, and detail-oriented.
**Requirements:**
- 12+ years in energy generation or large load project development with demonstrated track record advancing projects from greenfield to financial close

- Exceptional cross-functional leadership and stakeholder management skills
- Ability to manage and mentor teams
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Comfort in fast-paced, highly iterative startup environment
- Willingness to think creatively and propose novel solutions to technical problems
