Rachio is seeking a Director of Product Marketing to own the go-to-market (GTM) strategy and execution for its portfolio of smart home hardware, software, and subscription offerings. This is a senior leadership role responsible for building and running the end-to-end GTM process—from ideation through launch and post-launch iteration—while aligning cross-functional teams (Product, Engineering, Supply Chain, Sales, Support, Marketing) around shared commercial goals. Key responsibilities include: **GTM Process & Strategy**: Design and execute the complete GTM mechanism with clear stage gates, success criteria, launch readiness protocols, and post-launch reviews. Set strategic goals, drive alignment across functions, and identify process bottlenecks. Build repeatable, scalable GTM motions and systems. **Product Development Partnership**: Serve as the senior product marketing voice in roadmap decisions. Partner with Product Management using data-driven insights (market sizing, customer research, competitive intelligence, channel input, AI applications). Maintain deep market knowledge of competitive landscape, smart home platforms/protocols, pro channel dynamics, and category trends. **Positioning, Messaging & Pricing**: Define positioning and messaging architecture for hardware, software, and subscription offerings. Translate technical capabilities into customer-friendly language. Own the single source of truth for each product (positioning, claims, features, competitive comparisons, FAQs, objection handling). Develop pricing and packaging recommendations with financial modeling for good/better/best structures, subscription tiers, channel-specific SKUs, and promotional strategies. **Launch & Channel Execution**: Lead integrated launches across professional, retail, and D2C channels. Build enablement for pro training, distributor/rep materials, retail line reviews, packaging, and product comparison tools. Partner with Brand Studio and Marketing to translate positioning into campaigns and measure ROI. Close post-launch feedback loops on customer confusion, returns, and CSAT priorities. Lead international expansion opportunities. **Voice of Customer & Measurement**: Own the customer research agenda (qualitative/quantitative, primary/syndicated) across homeowners and professional installers. Instrument launches for measurable success: adoption, attach/activation rates, sell-through, ASP, retention, NPS. Note: This is positioned as a senior individual contributor role in a flat organization. Influence comes from thinking quality, writing clarity, and cross-functional credibility—not headcount. The role requires hands-on execution (writing narratives, building models, running launches) rather than delegation. **Requirements** Minimum Qualifications: - 10+ years of product marketing, GTM, or closely related commercial experience, including significant end-to-end initiative ownership - Demonstrated comfort as a hands-on individual contributor (writing narratives, building models, running launches) - Proven ownership of full product lifecycle from concept through launch and iteration, with specific results - Experience marketing connected hardware, consumer electronics, IoT, or technical products (understanding hardware lead times, supply constraints, certification, channel timing) - Experience marketing software or subscription offerings (adoption, attach, retention, monetization) - Track record driving direction and alignment across product, engineering, finance, operations, and sales without owning those functions - Strong analytical foundation: comfortable with modeling, spreadsheets, BI tools, and defending assumptions - Exceptional written communication skills; ability to distill complex decisions into actionable narratives for leadership - Bachelor's degree - Must be legally authorized to work in the United States Desired Qualifications: - Experience building GTM or NPI processes from scratch or materially rebuilding ineffective ones - Experience in two-step distribution or professional trade channels (irrigation, landscape, electrical, HVAC, plumbing, building products) alongside retail and D2C - Technical fluency with smart home platforms and protocols (Matter, Thread, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth) - Experience with outdoor products, lighting, water management, or sustainability categories - Experience with partner, OEM, or co-marketing programs - MBA or advanced degree
