P-1 AI is building Archie, an AI engineer agent for the physical world. The company recently closed a $50M Series A led by NEA, with former GE CEO Jeff Immelt joining the board alongside AI luminaries from Anthropic and Nominal. Archie operates at the level of a junior mechanical and electrical engineer today, with quantitative intuition over product design and the ability to use complex engineering tools alongside human teammates.
As Director of Product, you will partner directly with the CEO to translate the company's vision into an actionable product roadmap and strategy. This is a high-impact role requiring deep expertise in both complex physical systems design and modern AI capabilities and limitations.
Key responsibilities include: continuously mapping the ambitious vision into focused product strategy and feature roadmaps; embedding with customers to understand workflows and inject use cases into the roadmap; developing feature specifications and requirements with engineering teams; working with engineering leaders on product architecture; leading the product from emerging AI capability to trusted, sustained use in real engineering environments with rigorous performance and reliability standards; and building and leading a world-class product team while remaining deeply hands-on with discovery, design, and delivery.
You should have intimate familiarity with engineering design for complex systems—ideally in data center cooling/power, automotive, aerospace, or defense. You need deep understanding of modern AI, its limitations, and failure modes, plus proven track record taking an AI product from early capability to sustained customer adoption. You thrive in 0→1 journeys, attract top talent, and are equally comfortable being hands-on and leading teams. You believe AI building the physical world will be transformative.
The role is hybrid: remote (US/Canada) or in-office in San Mateo, with one week per six spent on-site. Relocation support is available. Compensation includes competitive salary, bonus, meaningful equity, healthcare, dental, vision, 401(k) match, and unlimited PTO.
