MaintainX, now part of Autodesk Operations Solutions, is seeking a Director of Platform Engineering to lead the Platform division. This is a manager-of-managers role overseeing seven foundational engineering teams: AI Builder, DevOps, Compliance, Testing Frameworks, Backend Frameworks, Mobile Frameworks, and SRE.
In this role, you will own the roadmap and operating model for Platform Engineering, setting division-level priorities, managing cross-team dependencies, and translating business goals into multi-quarter platform investments. You'll lead and develop a team of Software Development Managers, coaching them on people development, technical judgment, and organizational effectiveness. You'll set engineering standards that every product team depends on—framework conventions, reliability targets, compliance posture, and CI/CD health.
A key focus is driving MaintainX's AI-native platform strategy. The AI Builder team's agent orchestration, tool registry, and developer environments sit within this division; you'll ensure the organization extracts real leverage from these capabilities. You'll own division-level reliability, including SLO definitions, incident response frameworks, on-call health, and systemic paths from incident to prevention.
You'll partner with the CTO and peer engineering leaders on org design, architectural decisions, and headcount planning. You'll represent Platform Engineering to the business, translating infrastructure investment into engineering velocity, developer experience, and customer trust. Expert-level English (spoken and written) is required, as you'll lead platform engineering managers across multiple teams, present technical priorities to executive stakeholders, and align with engineering leaders daily.

REQUIREMENTS:
- 10+ years in software engineering with 5+ years in engineering leadership, including 2+ years managing managers across multiple teams
- Technical depth in at least two of: distributed systems, backend or mobile frameworks, platform engineering, reliability engineering—credible enough to make hard hiring decisions and engage in architecture reviews
- Track record of owning platform or infrastructure-focused teams at a growth-stage B2B SaaS company, with demonstrated impact on engineering velocity
- AI-forward: set direction for teams building on LLMs and agentic workflows; hold your org to an AI-native standard
- Systems thinker who identifies organizational bottlenecks and eliminates them without creating new ones
- Strong communicator who can represent platform complexity and tradeoffs clearly to product, finance, and executive stakeholders
- Expert-level English (spoken and written)
NICE TO HAVE:
- Experience leading a Testing Frameworks, Quality Engineering, or Developer Productivity platform function
- Hands-on history scaling developer platforms through rapid headcount growth (Series D+)
- Familiarity with CMMS, IoT, or industrial SaaS domains
