Scopely, a leading mobile games publisher and interactive entertainment company, is seeking a Director of Operations to lead Slate Operations for the Slate Development Group. This role oversees execution and cross-functional alignment across games in development, ensuring decisions are made once and stick, maintaining cadence across teams, and clearing operational blockers.
You will own two interconnected areas: (1) keeping the Slate Development Group running as an organization—managing cadence, processes, and day-to-day support for the Game Board, Head of Slate Development, and leadership; and (2) running program management for the Game Development Framework (GDF) so games move cleanly from concept to launch.
Key responsibilities include:
- Serve as the operational point of contact for in-development games, running the GDF cadence and connecting game and central teams to prevent re-litigation of decisions
- Deliver operational excellence within the internal team, shaping service models, priorities, and ways of working
- Drive the cross-slate operating model so independent game teams reuse proven solutions
- Bring structure to consequential decisions by organizing inputs, assumptions, and trade-offs early for real alignment
- Own a capstone project end-to-end (e.g., evolving the GDF, owning launch readiness, operationalizing central partnerships)
- Keep investment decisions well-informed by tracking progress across games at different stages and surfacing Greenlight Case, budget, staffing, and dependency status
- Unblock teams through development cycles, especially at launch readiness, by clearing operational issues with central partners (legal, IT, procurement, finance, logistics)
- Provide operational support to teams—production perspective, process facilitation, and GDF navigation
- Operationalize playtests and validation by building and running research plans and packaging findings for leadership
- Utilize AI technologies to maintain information flow—dashboards, status, and key dates without overhead
You will work across every part of Scopely: game teams, divisional leadership, finance, strategy, and corporate development. The role is based in Barcelona or the UK on a flexible hybrid model.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree (MBA a plus) or equivalent experience
- 10+ years in program/project management across tech and direct-to-consumer businesses, with at least 5 years in games working within or alongside a development team
- Deep understanding of how games get made and sold—development, publishing, platforms, business models
- Experience supporting senior executives in fast-moving environments; comfort with pace, initiative, juggling priorities, and switching gears
- Ability to run multiple projects simultaneously, ideally a mix of R&D and live operations
- Comfort in ambiguity with ability to create clarity for others; sound judgment in company interest and knowing when to escalate
- Proficiency with P&Ls and free-to-play KPIs
- Ability to identify and fix processes that slow teams down; willingness to push back and start right debates when it matters
- Strong trust-building skills across all levels; comfort with difficult conversations and presence to grow into partnership with senior game leaders
- Strong writing and presentation skills; ability to build compelling decks with cross-functional input
- Natural attention to detail and organization
- Low ego, business outcomes first, open to feedback, and genuinely curious about all parts of the business
- Passion for games and the industry
