Chime is seeking a Director of Messaging Operations to build and lead the operational engine behind all member communications. You will own the end-to-end messaging strategy and execution across campaign management, channel health, deliverability, automation, and platform governance. Currently much of this work is manual; your mandate is to accelerate it, improve quality, and drive increasing automation with AI agents supporting the operation.
You will lead a growing team including an execution lead and channel/platform specialists, partnering closely with MarTech, Growth Engineering, and lifecycle strategy teams to transform strategy into high-quality, live messaging at scale.
Key responsibilities include: owning the messaging operations engine and its metrics (throughput, quality, speed, deliverability, channel health); building and optimizing the end-to-end operational process from intake through launch; driving the automation and AI-agent roadmap to move from manual to supervised automated workflows; establishing governance standards for channel excellence, compliance, and QA in a regulated environment; managing channel excellence across email, push, in-app, and SMS; building and leading a technical team with clear expectations and career development; and serving as the primary stakeholder liaison between Lifecycle, MarTech, and Growth Engineering.
Required qualifications: 8+ years in marketing/CRM operations, lifecycle execution, or martech with 3+ years leading teams (including developing managers, not just individual contributors); deep expertise with engagement and CRM platforms like Braze including campaign operations, journey architecture, and automation; strong track record in governance, channel standards, deliverability, and compliance; proven ability to scale manual processes with clear perspective on AI and agent integration; deep channel health and deliverability expertise at scale; strong operational and analytical judgment; and influence to align peer Directors and VPs across functions on shared standards.
Bonus qualifications: experience building or scaling automation/agent layers in marketing or CRM; fintech or regulated-industry compliance experience; experience in high-volume owned-channel environments (millions of sends weekly).
