Hippocratic AI is hiring a Director of IT and Workplace to own the technology platform and physical environment supporting ~265 onsite employees in Menlo Park, plus a distributed network of remote U.S.-licensed clinicians. The company recently raised a $126M Series C at a $3.5B valuation and is planning acquisitions, requiring scaled IT and workplace infrastructure. You will own two integrated domains: (1) the employee technology platform—identity and access management via Okta, endpoints (Mac-primary fleet with Windows and VDIs), Microsoft 365 and Google Workspace, internal systems, and IT security posture; and (2) the physical environment—space planning, physical security, access control, conference room AV, and facilities operations. You'll inherit a small capable team and be accountable for growing it. Key responsibilities include: **Strategy, Budget, and Team:** Develop a multi-year IT and workplace roadmap tied to hiring plans; own and forecast the operating and capital budget; lead, coach, and grow the team with clear expectations and career paths; define and publish service levels for ticket response, uptime, onboarding, and workplace turnaround. **Technology and Infrastructure:** Own the Okta identity platform with SSO, MFA, and automated joiner-mover-leaver provisioning; manage the endpoint fleet and SaaS portfolio with enforced MDM baselines; own network and connectivity for headquarters and remote workforce; replace manual workflows with scripted, auditable processes; lead major programs including platform migrations, office buildouts, and IT integration of acquired companies. **Security, Compliance, and Risk:** Serve as the accountable owner for IT controls in HIPAA, SOC 2, and customer security review programs; enforce least privilege and run recurring access certifications; partner with Security on incident response and Legal on data handling; own business continuity and disaster recovery plans; treat protected health information with the highest care standards. **Workplace and Facilities:** Own day-to-day headquarters operations and lead space planning against a dynamic hiring plan; manage physical security including access control, badging, visitor management, and emergency preparedness; own conference room and event AV to professional standards; support remote clinicians and staff with equipment logistics and consistent service; manage facilities, security, and vendor relationships in partnership with Finance and Legal. The role requires hands-on leadership at a company where the director still unblocks critical issues when needed. You'll report to the executive team and be the named owner for IT controls in regulated compliance programs. **Requirements:** - 8+ years in IT, spanning hands-on administration or engineering and progressively senior ownership - 3+ years managing IT or workplace teams, including hiring, performance management, and developing people - Proven ownership of an IT function through rapid growth, scaling systems and process ahead of headcount - Deep technical expertise across Okta (or comparable identity platforms), Microsoft 365 and Google Workspace, MDM at fleet scale, and corporate networking - Experience as a named control owner in a regulated environment (HIPAA, SOC 2, or HITRUST), including audit interactions - Budget ownership and vendor negotiation experience with financial fluency to frame risks and funding asks for executive decision-making - Workplace or facilities exposure (buildouts, moves, physical security, lease management) or genuine appetite to learn quickly - Willingness to stay close to the work and unblock issues hands-on - Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field, or equivalent demonstrated ability **Nice to Have:** - Healthcare, life sciences, or experience handling sensitive personal data at scale - IT integration of acquisitions or standing up first access governance or asset management programs - Automation depth (Python, Bash, PowerShell) and infrastructure-as-code experience - Certifications: Okta Certified Administrator, Microsoft 365 Enterprise Administrator, Jamf, CISM, CISSP, or ITIL
