As Director of General Ledger Accounting, you will lead the GL function and own the complete month-end, quarterly, and annual close process. You will ensure accurate, timely financial results and oversee all accounting processes within NetSuite. Key responsibilities include:
- Owning the month-end close: Lead close activities including calendar management, deliverables, dependencies, review procedures, and issue resolution.
- Overseeing GL integrity: Review journal entries, accruals, account reconciliations, and supporting schedules to ensure accuracy and proper period recording.
- Coordinating accounting workstreams: Partner with AP, revenue/AR, payroll, equity, fixed assets, leases, intercompany, treasury, and tax teams to ensure timely inputs and consistent treatment.
- Leading NetSuite processes: Serve as accounting lead for NetSuite, partnering with systems teams on workflows, chart of accounts governance, reporting, integrations, and enhancements.
- Reviewing financial results: Lead balance sheet and income statement fluctuation reviews, investigate unusual activity, and communicate key drivers to accounting leadership and FP&A.
- Strengthening controls: Establish accounting policies, close procedures, reconciliation standards, and review controls; drive resolution of reconciling items and control deficiencies.
- Supporting financial reporting and audits: Deliver accurate trial balances and supporting schedules; coordinate audit requests and resolve findings.
- Improving efficiency: Identify automation opportunities for journal entries, reconciliations, and reporting to reduce manual work and shorten close timelines.
- Developing the team: Lead and coach the GL accounting team, set expectations, balance workloads, and build accountability for quality and deadlines.
- Supporting business changes: Assess GL and close implications of new entities, transactions, systems, and business initiatives.
The ideal candidate combines strong technical accounting knowledge, hands-on NetSuite experience, and proven ability to lead teams and improve processes as the business scales.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA preferred.
- 10+ years of progressive accounting experience, including 4+ years managing teams and leading the financial close.
- Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP, general ledger accounting, reconciliations, and internal controls.
- Hands-on NetSuite experience, including close management, financial reporting, and accounting process improvements.
- Demonstrated ability to coordinate multiple accounting workstreams, manage dependencies, and resolve issues under tight deadlines.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills, with ability to explain accounting issues clearly to finance and business partners.
- Experience with multi-entity accounting, intercompany transactions, and consolidation preferred.
