Salary: USD 171,900 - 193,100 / annual
AEVEX, a defense and aerospace solutions company headquartered in Solana Beach, California, is seeking a Director of Finance to lead all financial operations and planning for the Global Solutions segment. This hybrid role reports to segment leadership and serves as a strategic financial partner to senior executives.
In this position, you will oversee budgeting, forecasting, program financial management, and consolidated reporting. You will direct the Program Control and Finance teams, driving forecasting accuracy, strengthening internal controls, and ensuring SOX compliance. Key responsibilities include partnering with senior leadership on strategic planning and operational reviews; leading and developing finance and program control teams; acting as a key business partner to program and functional leadership; overseeing enterprise-wide financial governance including EAC management and audit coordination (DCAA, internal, external); driving accurate financial planning and analysis including P&L management, scenario modeling, ASC 606 revenue recognition, and consolidated forecasting; implementing and enhancing financial systems, reporting tools, and ERP integrations; ensuring strong cost management processes and compliant project accounting across all contract types (CPFF, FFP, T&M); supporting pricing and proposals with financial strategies; maintaining a compliant GovCon financial culture aligned with FAR, CAS, DFARS, and GAAP; and leading cross-functional collaboration with Corporate Finance, Accounting, Operations, IT, and segment leadership.
AEVEX provides full-spectrum aviation, remote sensing, and analysis solutions supporting U.S. national security and partner nation needs. The company specializes in custom design and engineering, rapid prototyping, sensor integration, aircraft modification, flight test instrumentation, mission operations, advanced intelligence data processing, and tailored hardware/software mission-system tools. REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor's Degree in finance, accounting, or similar discipline (Master's Degree desired)
- 10+ years of progressive experience in finance
- Proven leadership experience developing high-performing teams and driving accountability and continuous improvement
- Experience operating cross-functionally in a matrixed environment and leading geographically dispersed teams
- Experience supporting pricing, proposals, profitability evaluation, and compliance with corporate and regulatory standards
- Deep knowledge of defense contracting regulations including FAR, DFARS, CAS, GAAP, and DCAA audit practices
- Extensive FP&A expertise including forecasting, AOP development, long-range planning, P&L management, and scenario modeling
- Advanced analytical skills with ability to interpret complex data sets and provide concise insights to senior leaders
- High proficiency with financial systems, ERP platforms, reporting tools, and advanced Excel
- Demonstrated ability to improve processes, implement financial systems, and drive operational excellence
- Strong communication skills with ability to clearly explain financial concepts to non-financial stakeholders
- Ability to obtain/maintain a Secret DoD clearance; U.S. Citizenship required
