Salary: USD 435,000 - 535,000 / annual

As Director of Engineering for Core Platform, you will lead the engineering organization responsible for CLEAR's member-facing platforms, including membership systems, identity proofing, and biometrics infrastructure. This is a people-leadership role managing Engineering Managers and senior individual contributors across a team of 20+ engineers.
Key responsibilities include:
- Defining and executing technical strategy and roadmap for member-facing platforms
- Leading, developing, and scaling an engineering team focused on growth and accountability
- Cross-functional partnership with Product, Security, and Engineering leadership on priorities and architecture
- Owning vendor strategy and integrations to ensure cost efficiency, reliability, and scalability
- Establishing engineering standards and best practices in system design, reliability, observability, and operational excellence
Success metrics center on platform reliability (uptime, latency, scalability), roadmap execution, cost optimization, team retention and development, and adoption of engineering best practices.
Required experience includes 4+ years leading and scaling engineering organizations managing managers and teams of 20+ engineers, driving large-scale platform initiatives (re-architecture, vendor migrations, multi-tenant development), setting high bars for engineering excellence, building high-performance teams, and operating with ownership in fast-paced environments.
