incident.io is the leading AI incident response platform trusted by engineering teams at companies like OpenAI, Netflix, and Airbnb. The company has processed over 1 million incidents since launching in 2021 and has raised $96 million from top-tier investors including Index Ventures and Insight Partners. This newly created Director of Engineering role focuses on infrastructure, security, and IT operations. You will own the reliability, scale, cost, and security of the platform that customers depend on during critical outages. The infrastructure must support incident.io's AI product (Investigations), which runs multi-agent analysis across logs and deployments to identify root causes—handling sensitive operational data at scale. Day-to-day responsibilities include partnering with Product Development and cross-functional teams to ensure infrastructure and security posture meet customer expectations. You'll coordinate during outages and security incidents, work on scaling new AI-powered features, and shape the security and infrastructure strategy as this function is built from the ground up. The ideal candidate has deep infrastructure and security expertise, has built teams or functions from scratch at a similar-stage company, and has experience at larger organizations to understand mature practices. You think in systems rather than silos, can discuss architecture with engineers and explain business impact to executives, and are comfortable owning ambiguity in a newly created role. incident.io offers competitive benefits including private medical insurance, enhanced pension, meaningful equity, generous parental leave, first Friday of each month off, and £1000 setup budget plus £500 annual professional development budget.
