Booksy is a rapidly scaling, cloud-based international marketplace connecting independent service providers (salons, spas, fitness studios, etc.) with customers. The platform enables providers to get booked, get paid, and build loyal client bases, while customers discover businesses and book appointments instantly.
As Director of Engineering reporting to the CTO in the Provider Domain, you will own the technical strategy and delivery for systems serving hundreds of thousands of independent businesses daily. You will lead 4–5 cross-functional teams through Engineering Managers and Staff+ Engineers in a deliberately flat organizational structure.
Key responsibilities include:
- Own end-to-end delivery and technical outcomes across your domain
- Set engineering standards for the domain, establishing frameworks for architecture decisions, technical proposals, and team working practices
- Lead the company's AI transformation of the engineering lifecycle and define metrics to measure success
- Partner with Product to translate commercial strategy into engineering strategy, backed by experimentation and data
- Build a high-density team of exceptional engineers, coaching leaders to operate autonomously
- Stay close to the work while scaling the organization

Booksy is proudly distributed globally with a remote-first approach per market. Depending on your location, you may have office access or work fully remote, but you must be based in the country/region where the role is advertised.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Think like a product owner: understand unit economics, funnels, growth mechanics, and the commercial impact of engineering decisions
- Proven experience establishing engineering rigor (architecture decision records, technical proposals, standardized ways of working that teams adopted)
- Practical experience embedding AI tooling into the day-to-day engineering lifecycle with a clear view on measuring impact and protecting code quality
- Experience leading multiple squads through Engineering Managers and Staff Engineers in a high-growth scale-up, high-transaction marketplace, or SaaS business while staying close to the work
- Conversational-level English language skills (English is the company language for business-wide communications)
HELPFUL EXPERIENCE:
- Two-sided marketplace or booking platform experience
- Growth engineering or growth experimentation exposure
- B2B SaaS experience at scale
