TRM Labs is a Series C AI-powered intelligence platform helping public and private sector agencies investigate and disrupt crime. The company is backed by Goldman Sachs, Bessemer, Y Combinator, and Thoma Bravo, with $220M in total funding.
As Director of Corporate FP&A, you will own the integrated company financial plan and lead financial partnership across GTM and R&D functions. You will report to the VP of Finance and work directly with the CEO and other executives, with substantial ownership of your function and hands-on involvement in its most important work as the team scales.
Key responsibilities include:
- Build and develop a strong FP&A and Strategic Finance team, setting clear priorities, hiring excellent people, coaching emerging leaders, and establishing high standards for the function's work.
- Own the integrated financial plan: long-range and annual planning, driver-based forecasts, headcount, revenue, operating investments, and cash flow. Make the implications of different choices clear to leadership.
- Lead performance management through forecasts, monthly business reviews, and budget-owner conversations. Identify changes early, distinguish signal from noise, and turn analysis into decisions with accountable owners.
- Partner with GTM and R&D leaders on pricing, unit economics, growth, infrastructure, and investment tradeoffs, bringing a whole-company perspective to cross-functional decisions.
- Lead executive and Board financial reporting and financial work supporting fundraising, including projections, scenarios, diligence, and consistent narrative.
- Improve Finance's planning systems and workflows, including Pigment. Use AI to accelerate reliable analytical work and build repeatable improvements into team operations.
TRM operates as a distributed-first company with hubs in Los Angeles, San Francisco, New York, Washington D.C., London, and Singapore. The culture emphasizes speed, high ownership, and impact. The company moves fast—what takes months elsewhere ships in days. You should expect priorities to change quickly, high ambiguity, personal accountability, close cross-functional collaboration, and frequent communication. This environment rewards urgency, adaptability, and outcomes.
AI fluency is a baseline expectation at TRM. You will be evaluated on applied AI fluency during the interview process, including how you accelerate repeatable workflows, structure and solve problems, improve output quality, and increase speed and leverage.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Experience independently owning company-wide FP&A and Strategic Finance in a growing technology business, with both corporate planning depth and meaningful business partnership. Evaluation is based on the complexity you have owned and outcomes delivered, not title or tenure.
- Evidence that you identify important business problems before being asked, form a defensible point of view, and influence executives to act.
- Record of hiring, developing, and leading a strong team, including creating leverage from a lean starting point.
- Strong financial craft: driver-based forecasting, integrated financial statements, cash planning, scenario analysis, and clear understanding of assumptions beneath models.
- Clear executive communication and experience preparing and defending recommendations for senior leadership and Boards.
- Applied AI fluency. Demonstrate how you use AI in analytical work, validate outputs, improve recurring workflows, and coach others to do the same.
- Experience improving planning systems, data quality, and operating processes. Experience with Pigment or comparable platform is relevant.
- Sound judgment under ambiguity and willingness to work directly in details when decisions require it.
- Experience with enterprise SaaS, complex customer contracts, and significant financing or public-company readiness process is valuable. Leaders from adjacent technology businesses with comparable operating complexity are also welcome.
