As Director of Client Engineering, you will lead Tide's frontend engineering organization, overseeing Core Architecture, Engineering Productivity, and Quality Engineering teams. You'll manage Engineering Managers and collaborate with Staff Engineers to ensure the frontend ecosystem is a competitive advantage. Key responsibilities include: **Architectural Advocacy**: Partner with Staff Engineers to drive pragmatic frontend strategy. Take a hands-on approach to identifying and resolving bottlenecks in large-scale monorepo workflows, ensuring the codebase remains sustainable and performant. **Technical Stewardship & Efficiency**: Evaluate the current tech stack and workforce model to maximize engineering leverage. Advocate for technical solutions aligned with Tide's business goals without sacrificing tool appropriateness. **Product Observability**: Ensure stakeholders globally have full visibility into product experience across all configurations and platforms. **Delivery Excellence**: Own the delivery of a modern Release Engineering model. Implement comprehensive automation strategies that prioritize high-frequency, predictable deployment cycles. **Emerging Technology & AI**: Provide thought leadership on leveraging AI and agentic solutions within the client-side experience. Explore how AI can optimize frontend performance, automate interactions, and drive personalized member experiences. You'll work with Flutter and Dart in a modular architecture, managing state management, dependency injection, navigation, code generation, and BDD testing. The role requires seasoned leadership of significant engineering organizations, deep frontend expertise, systems thinking, and commercial maturity. You should be a pragmatist comfortable with technical trade-offs, experienced in modernizing mobile release cycles, and skilled at navigating both technical and organizational complexity.
