As Director of AI Engineering, you will lead Parachute's AI transformation initiative as a hands-on builder and people leader. This is not an advisory role—you will personally design, build, and deploy agentic systems that remove operational waste across the organization while managing a small pod of 2-4 engineers.
Key responsibilities include:
• Design and deploy end-to-end agentic solutions from problem scoping through production code, orchestration, testing, and handoff to maintained systems
• Own the AI automation roadmap by identifying and prioritizing opportunities within internal operations (supplier onboarding, clinician activation, sales, finance, support) and sequencing high-leverage builds
• Lead a small engineering pod as a player-coach, directly managing 2-4 engineers while staying hands-on in the work, setting code quality standards, and modeling velocity
• Conduct discovery with internal teams, map workflows, identify intervention points, and design AI-first processes
• Influence company-wide decisions on models, orchestration frameworks, agent toolkits, and workflow platforms
You should have a strong software engineering foundation with deep understanding of system design, APIs, data flow, and full SDLC applied to AI systems. Hands-on experience with RAG pipelines, vector databases, LLM orchestration (LangChain, LangGraph), voice-agent infrastructure, MCP, and multi-agent coordination is essential. You must have personally built and deployed AI systems that drove real operational outcomes and can demonstrate concrete throughput or efficiency gains.
The ideal candidate ships meaningful systems with speed, communicates clearly with non-technical stakeholders, and has experience building and leading small high-output technical teams. Nice-to-haves include deep ML experience and business transformation acumen.
